Greetings and Welcome!
The results for the Karnataka Assembly Elections are just out.
Congratulations to the BJP - its first State Government in the South [of River Vindhya] on its own strength is most likely to happen in a few days from now. BJP has been working for two decades untiringly and the people of Karnataka have at last provided them a thin chance - 110 out of 224 seats – to govern them. A pleasant surprise is BJP won the election without the secular versus non-secular issues.
This morning when the result trends were coming in, the reactions, especially from Congress Party was outlandish to say the least. Abishek Singhvi - the official spokesperson of the Congress Party - virtually gave directions to the Governor of Karnataka while speaking to media persons. He said the Governor would invite the largest-single-combine to form the Government and not the single largest Party. He also mentioned the numbers, if the combined strength of Congress and JD[S] was 107 or more, then Congress would be invited to form the Government. Congress has never known to concede defeat gracefully to BJP, but at least it should have the guts to accept peoples’ verdict. Though S M Krishna admitted defeat gracefully on a different TV Channel.
Congress finally accepted defeat later in the day, officially, and it described the loss to the division of secular votes by JD[S] – what a pity? If the party could not win, it blames someone else outside the party. While also belittling the judgment of the people. How can the party assume that it is the owner of the so-called “secular votes” and blame another party for grabbing some of those “secular-votes”? Does the Congress Party means to say that all Hindus voted BJP and all Muslims voted for either Congress or JD[S]? If that be the case, with 70% of the voters being Hindus, how could Congress have won 70+ seats? Does Congress mean to say that all Hindus who voted for it are all fools and all Muslims who did not vote for it are all betrayers? When Congress lost the Uttar Pradesh elections it blamed that Dalits and Muslims voted for Mayawati’s BSP and hence it lost! What a foolish analysis – which only Congressmen can think of?
Today, the Congress could have blamed the Communists, at least faintly, for weakening it. Because of the comrades, the Congress Government at the Center could not sign up the Nuclear Deal with USA – which could have been projected as the single most achievement by the Congress. The National Rural Employment Program has not helped Congress get votes and seats. The Rupees 72000 Crore Loan Waiver has not helped Congress get votes and seats. The delimitation of Political Constituencies by the Election Commission has not helped Congress get votes and seats. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi campaigns have not helped Congress get more votes and more seats. Higher Inflation and skyrocketing prices of essential commodities definitely would not help Congress get votes and seats! Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not allowed to campaign in Karnataka – though he was the first Indian PM to give Muslims the first right to use the Nation’s resources. Chidambaram never campaigned in Karnataka though he was the Finance Minister to waive Farm Loans. Together they form the face of the Congress Government and they were not on the streets to campaign for the Party nor were they hiding in rat holes all these past few months.
Chidambaram’s economic policies definitely has not helped Congress Party to get Rural Votes or Aam-Aadmi Votes. Manmohan’s strategic Muslim ploys – like implementing Sachhar Committee recommendations – has not helped Congress get Muslim Votes. OBC quota has not helped Congress get OBC Votes. That too in the fifth year of the Government. So it would be prudent for the Congress to replace its public faces [or masks? J] tonight itself - the Prime Minister, Finance Minister and the Home Minister with more charismatic leaders – I cant get any Congressmen names from the top of my head right away – to save some more votes getting shifted to the opposition camp in the 2009 Lok Sabha Polls.
To run a successful National Party, one not only needs to have charisma but also have the pulse of the people in your own veins. I doubt if Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi or Manmohan Singh or Chidambaram or Patil or Pranab Mukherjee have these in them. If they cannot win their own Lok Sabha seats on their own merit, they don’t deserve the Leadership Role in the Central Government. Left parties – who cannot win Lok Sabha seats, on their own strength, outside of West Bengal, Tripura and Kerala deserve to be crucified by the Congress – for weakening it politically. You cannot build faces of the Party for Aam-Aadmi, OBCs and Muslims and then never use them in Election Campaigns. What a Contrarian Party? I don’t think Congress Party is planning to contest in Pakistan to win Elections?
The Congress loss in Karnataka would have major ramifications on the political scene at National Level. Definitely there would be new political tie-ups. Our comrades would start talking of Third Front more aggressively. Karunanidhi might shift base to the BJP camp. As also Chandra Babu Naidu. Deve Gowda, Mulayam Singh, Laloo Prasad, Sharad Pawar, et all, could end up in the Third Front. Congress might be left with no credible alliance partners – excepting actors Vijaykanth in Tamil Nadu and Chiranjeevi [?] in Andhra Pradesh – for the 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
Not just that, Sensex might nosedive tomorrow – 26th May 2008 – because of the confused political scenario.
BJP is on the Pedestal right now in Karnataka and lets hope that it behaves itself well and provides better governance in Karnataka – anything little more and visibly different than what Deve Gowda & Co and Congress & Co provided in the past, would win acclaims to the BJP.
Cheers

Raza, thanks for stopping by and expressing your thoughts.
If the Prime Minister of India eats, breathes and drinks communalism, the Nation has literally no choice.
We need a good Party to rule, that talks of ONE INDIA and drafts policies and procedures addressing ALL the citizens as INDIANS. If Manmohan and Chidambaram come back to power, we can even expect a Muslim Budget being presented in Parliament !!!

One other thing as far as repeat of Gujarat is concerned.. I think what happened in there is normal and natural faced with islamic savagery of 1000 years. It was not a robust response so it has not been a deterrent. Simple principle...
Dont insult your Hindu hosts.....that too, dont behave savagely!! If you do, dont be surprised if you are kicked out unceremoniously!!
I wish India is as tough on savage islamic communalists as Morocco, Saudistan are...

I read crazy comments on the wild dances of srk and wilder reaction of teen bimbos; let me ask these q's:-
Do you think it would be wise of anyone to tell their friends to give more to fill islamic pockets at this juncture? ...when people are dying in riots and serial blasts and with him diverting our attention, it is not entertaining or funny is it?!!!
Anyways, what has he done that is significantly positive for the country?! Making people smoke ruining their health?! Or preaching to go astray cheating the spouse in wedlock?!!! Or linking up with the Mumbai underworld in sponsoring riots and serial blasts?!!!!!!!! Is this dude dominating the "political" and media scene grabbing all the attention usurping positions, encroaching in "territory" or space (long after 1947 when all the muslims must have been sent to "fakistan") is in your long term interests?!
Is it prudent to spend your hard earned money and valuable time on a morally questionable character?!

Can BJP get the masses to boycott? Read what Seetha-ji wrote:
"....we are neither secular nor democratic, since the democratic majority does NOT rule and we are more secular than any muslim or xian since our temple priests dont interfere in politics while mullahs and pastors do!!!
It is obvious the anti-Indians cant adjust with Hindus and you cant put with their savage non-sense any more.
You lose your immunity. You both have personality conflict. It has been bitter and resentful relationship that is unsustainable. You cant allow the sickening life with islamic criminals any more. Your happiness should come 1st.
For muslims, religion always comes 1st. Most of them live in luxury after plundering Hindus for several colonial centuries not decades nor years. Most of them keep getting wealthier at your expense as you all get poorer and poorer.
With secularism failing, we are dangerously unstable country with the commies in nexus with the islamic communalists. Solution is nearlly impossible
with the islamic communalists. Solution is nearlly impossible unless you boycott....
Cricket and bollywood are a curse to India and Indians - full of gambling, wild dances, betting, racism, sucking our money into a few pockets, making the rich-poor divide even wider...boycott khan movies and cricket. "

I am happy that BJP won! I wrote this:
STOP FLEECING HINDUMANS TO SERVICE IMAMS! Mosques and churches are the plac of all evils! Dont you about rape of minors in churches - especially in the WEST?!
THIS IS SHOCKING INDEED:
"Asian Age article dated October 5, 2005. “Imams across the country are in for a surprise bonanza of up to Rs 3 lakhs each in the form of arrears. The imams leading the prayers in these mosques are eligible for arrears, with the Delhi high court recently recognizing that arrears have accrued to the imams since the 1993 of the Supreme Court. The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi Waqb Board to give a schedule of payment of arrears by October 24. The 1993 SC judgment ruled that the imams would be paid salaries and directed the Centre and Central Waqf Council to prepare a scheme for payment of salaries within 6 months. The salaries scheme was submitted on 5.1.1996, during the tenure of the P.V. Narasimha Rao government. The Supreme Court on February 3, 2003 directed that waqf tribunals should be set up in the states so that imams in each state could move the respective tribunals for settling disputes over salaries. However, salaries were not paid. It was against this background that the Delhi High Court recognized that arrears have accrued since 1993”.
Friends some thoughts. If India is a secular state and being secular means separation of state from religion why must the Courts get involved in what is purely a religious matter, a dispute between the Imams and Waqf Board. Hope BJP can end all this absurdities.

You have rightly listed out the demerits of UPA government. The congress party has become synonimous with confusion .In action on certain issues has become its characteristic feature.Certain policies of the congress has done enormous harm to the country. The Left party has been the greatest millstone around congress neck. That is all true. But the question is whether the negative of a party is the achievemetn of another party. The other party should also have an intrinsic quality to rule the nation.Divisive and exclusiveness principles can not be used for political gain.Any reasonable analyst would say that Gujarat experiment should not be replicated at the national level. If BJP,divested of its divisive and Hindutva plank can lead the country to economic prosperity, one should definitely throw out the Congress out of power and give BJP a chance. But the fear one has is that the Sangh Parivar has

Arjun, Thanks for stopping by. You are right. UPA will just bade the time, and call for elections. If NDA comes back to power, probably we could see some real good young ones as Ministers and make some interesting moves - both on social and economic fronts.

Elsas - Thanks for stopping by. I believe Gujarat is unique and it can never be repeated.

I just hope Gujarat is not repeated in Karnataka. The cosmopolitan culture of Bangalore should counter any kind of communal propaganda.

The UPA has become a bundle of contradictions and towards the end it is looking grim instead of finding any reason to smile. They are just carrying out a formality for the next eight or nine months.
